DevLog #6(Oct.17-Oct.23)

This week, we made significant progress based on feedback from the playtest as we prepare for the Alpha presentation. One of the major changes is the new skip button, which  prevents accidental skipping of dialogue and avoids unintentional exits that would restart the conversation. This ensures smoother interactions and maintains the flow of the narrative.

We also revamped the controller guide to improve clarity. Instead of using color distinctions, the guide now uses shapes—square for keyboard buttons and round for controller buttons. We replaced text descriptions with graphical guides, making controls much clearer and more intuitive. This enhancement ensures that players without any controller background can navigate the game more easily and with less confusion.

A key milestone this week was the creation of the start page and the menu system. The start page includes essential options like Start, Exit, and Guide, while the menu offers more control with options such as Continue, Restart, and Exit. These additions give players better access to key features and make the game feel more complete and user-friendly.

In addition, we’ve fully replaced the placeholders for models and music in the game. We introduced new models, including props like fountains, benches, trees, and bushes, which enrich the game world and make it feel more immersive. On the audio side, we added custom sound effects for actions like opening and closing the sketchbook, sticker appearances, and collecting stickers.

With these updates, we are excited to move toward the Alpha presentation, as Lost in the Ink becomes more refined and engaging with each iteration.
